Again, all ability levels were accommodated and Mrs. Medina took cues from the audience to adjust her instruction. Later, Our scholars experienced a series of 4 lessons; which she planned, at my request, to integrate leadership skills into movement. The children’s feedback was positive and Ms. Medina was able to elicit responses from the scholars that showed their learning. As the Capitol Region Education Council, Supervisor of Student Services for the Hartford Juvenile Detention Centers, I have had the pleasure of coordinating professional development opportunities with Karla Medina from Sudor Taino. Ms. Medina has provided two professional development workshops this school year for the education staff at the Hartford Juvenile detention facility focusing on team-building exercises and workplace motivational tools. These workshops have been well received by the staff this is evidence by their conversations with me and by their post workshop evaluations. Her energy is contagious which helps with building a quick rapport and connecting with the participants.
