As part of my May Empowerment Series I conducted a lecture/discussion at the 2012 Latina Symposium. It was at the end of the day and many were tired and even done after lunch. But the people that were meant to be there and receive my message where there and attentive to the tools I came ready to give them. The workshop, Sabor Unico was simply about the journey toward identifying, owning, nurturing and sharing your authenticity with others. It was simply more than that and we all laughed and some even cried afterwards. This is a forum that I would love to see emergence of realness. Many of us Latinas need to put down the attitude and embrace each other for our strengths. I am speaking as a Latina that has learned alot from the business field and continue to learn on a day to day basis. maybe I will be an ambassador for helping this case as it is something that could be the detriment of women in business and something that if they found would be incredibly powerful for them as individuals and collaboratively. It was a wonderful time and I connected with many people I knew and new faces. Untl we all meet again!
What can we do to become better people? Better yet what can we do to hold others accountable to want to be or just be better people? Why not show people how live by leading by example? How do you show up in life and is that in alignment with your purpose in life and how you truly want to live? Everyday stresses don't own you, you have to own them. Lets be the change we want to see!
Leading by example. I rarely do because I am so into myself that I barely know that I can be an example to others or that others are even watching. But I guess they are and especially the kids. You gave me something to think about.
Today, at the end of a long week it was time to be still. But most all to put things in perspective. Be still, so that we can hear what works for us and what doesn't. Replenish what we need to within us in order to be able to give 100% percent when we do give to others. First and most importantly, to be thankful for our internal stillness which controls out external action and reaction. To those that committed to being there today, it was a step in the right direction and it is my hope that you achieved complete stillness even if it was in between breaths, Take that with you and nuture it. And, to those of you that could not make it, I hope to see you next month. Namaste, K
This workshop was intense because of the questions it posed but the young women left with an understanding of reality and the value that their body should have to them. It seemed that moving forward they would be able to grasp the concept of real bodies, fake magazine, their outer appearance choices with a flicker of knowledge. It is my hope that I have planted a seed that opens their eyes to reality, their hearts to themselves and their souls to the freedom of better choices. My hardest yet fulfilling workshop yet! This is a matter that touches females of all ages, nationalities, sizes and mentalities. Namaste, K
It is funny that when you say let's beat our bodies up everyone signs up and shows ups for the class. When you say let's replenish your body and soothe it, people sign up and don't show. Are we conditioned to just beat ourselves up internally and externally? Do we feel guilty for relaxing and giving ourselves a moment to rejuvenate. I believe the answer is yes for a lot of you and I pray that it changes for you., To all the people that were there, please use the gifts you were given by others wisely and reflect upon them when needed. You energy was pure and simply amazing. We are blessed!
I thought this workout was ab-solutely (get it...ab...LOL) crazy! I think we like to see how far we can push our limits. I know I do! I feel like I've been presented a new challenge with the equipment we used. Although not new to me, the balls are now something I'd like to work more with to enhance my abs workout. Boy oh boy...although I will feel them today and tomorrow and maybe on Tuesday, they will be an awesome accessory! :) Love ya, Karla
Sudor Taino had yummy girls in Disney! They ran a marathon at Disney and spread their yumminess which combined with the magic already there. Amy & Carli commented that they almost hurled but they made it! These women are so inspiring and they continue to setting the bar higher for all of us. We are proud that you wore Yummy Girls on your t-shirt because through you, we were all there and all accomplished a goal! Until the next yummy girl adventure! Photo:
I am so impressed by what Amy and Carli accomplished and their tenacity to do so. They took us along on this journey during their training and preparation. It was nice to share that. It seems like you ladies had fun with it as evidenced by your many conversations about it. Makes others ponder on what challenging goal they can shoot for to advance their yumminess. Congrats!!

It was definitely an experience of a lifetime and it is so great to have the support of all of you guys. Amy is the proof that no matter what the challenge if you set your mind to it you can do anything!!! Our big question on the trip was next year whose coming with us?
Soothe Ur Soul has many people registered but not many committed to walk through the door to confirm their commitment to open and soothe their souls. The one hour session brought exercises of touch associated with our emotions and imagery that caressed the soul. Our birthday girl received the present of synergy and each participant received a rock that represented a milestone in my life and now milestone in each of theirs. My prayer for them is etched on their spine as a reminder of their journey to authenticity. I am honored to be a part of their journey and blessed to know each and every one of them. Wishing each of you the love, light and peace necessary to continue to make yummy deposits into your authentic soul. Namaste, Karla Photos:

Let me introduce myself. My name is Sarah Mangiafico. You may know me, you may not, but let me tell you...I have just met myself! I now truly know what yummy is. Yummy is nothing I ever thought it was. Yummy is not just that hot pair of pumps that you have to have, or the perfectly clear skin. Yummy is much deeper than that. I must say in 2010 I was kind of yummy, but in 2011, I am YUMMILICIOUS!!! I am getting closer now to my true authentic self. I am realizing that I only have 100 years (as my father always says) and in those 100 years I have to be selective with the choices I make. That's why this year my New Year's Resolution is to simplify my life. I am in the driver's seat--in control of my life. I have the power to choose the things I wish to do with this time--the people I want to share those years, months, days, minutes, seconds...I will make my time matter because I matter. I am who I am because of all I have experienced in my life. I met Karla probably ten years ago or so and the journey has been superfantastic! I have transformed from a person who cared what others thought, to thinking about how to make others care. I now see the glass half full, which is how I dream my future to be. I am so lucky to have met her, to have had the opportunity to be welcomed into such a beautiful person's life. She is a gift that I have shared with my family. Today we experienced "Soothe Your Soul" together. It was a day of meditation that I cannot explain--you just had to be there...BUT today my sister unwrapped this gift for her birthday...one that could have been her worst, but turned out to be her best! I thank you Karla and hope you know you can always turn to me as well. (Hey, I've learned from the best!) Love you!! Sarah
So the Holiday rush is over for the most part. A couple straggler gifts that you forgot to get or possibly some gift returns for unsatisfied gift getters. Either way, the running around since Thanksgiving is on the decline and now, most likely, you are left somewhat depleted but at least you can breath again, or at least let out a big sigh! In the spirit of sighing and breathing...january's meditation brings you a passion awakening. Go into January feeling prepared and armed with the right tools to be successful in resolving unfinished business. In 2011, we should be more than our stress, we should be about our passion. See January's meditation, http://sudortaino.com/monthly_meditations.
This week make dates with friends and or family that incorporate physical activity instead of eating or being stagnant. Or, a little of both. The activity could be as simple as going to the Big E which requires a whole lot of walking around and possibly eating. Or going out to dinner (splitting meals for calorie reduction) and then going out dancing. Taking a hike on Saturday or Sunday morning after a light breakfast. It all makes sense when one hand washes the other. This week convince and motivate yourself and others to "keep it moving"!
